Veteran South African hip-hop artist Linda Mkhize, better known as Pro Kid, has died. The award-winning musician suffered “a severe seizure attack whilst visiting friends.”
The 37 year old musician lost his life life night after suffering severe seizure. His family confirmed the news in a statement following an outpouring of tributes from fans and high-profile personalities on social media in the early hours of Thursday.
According to the family, paramedics were called to assist Mkhize but failed to revive him. He was pronounced dead at 20.38.
The legendary SA hip-hop artist affectionately known as ProKid passed away on Wednesday. He suffered a severe seizure attack while visiting friends and paramedics were called in to assist. They did their best to revive him to no avail and called his time of death at 8.38pm” the statement read.
ProKid’s family asked for privacy while they dealt with the tragedy. “Further details will be furnished as soon as his family has gathered.”
Some of the pioneering artist’s better-known songs include the hits Abagcwali and Ghetto Science.
ProKid, who was considered to be one of the pioneers of hip-hop in SA, he will be remembered for his contribution to the industry and for hits such as Ghetto Science and Uthini Ngo Pro.
Tributes have been pouring in on Twitter for the 37-year-old musician, who many described as a pioneer and an inspiration to other artists.
